As protecting agent, BMA supervises the functioning of the Charterers and monitor the port operations on behalf of Owners and/or operators. Other services which a protecting agent provides are:
- Checking pro forma DA provided by the agent
- Payment of funds to the agent
- Checking time sheet, Statement of Facts and other relevant documents
- Signing Bills of Lading
- Protecting the interest of the shipowner in case of problems and disagreements
